Savvy Australian design consumers are no longer content with the pedestrian. They want to know the provenance of the pieces that they buy, plus be assured of beautiful craftsmanship and sustainability.

That’s why L&M Home seeks out individual pieces with unique stories. The Melbourne-based brand curate gorgeous collections that help create warm, grounded interiors.

Founded in 2000, (previously Linen & Moore), their collections span home accessories, bed linen, table and bath, with a focus on natural materials rich in texture and character. Think linen that becomes softer with time and use, soft hand-loomed cotton and handmade stoneware.

Working with artisans around the world, L&M Home’s minimalist approach is fused with global skills and traditions, weaving stories of craftsmanship and creativity.

We’re delighted that L&M Home will be exhibiting at Decor + Design in 2021. Australia’s No.1 Interiors Trade Event will be back at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, 15 – 18 July. It will be an important opportunity for the design industry to regather in person after a challenging year for us all.

In the lead up to the event, we spoke with Anna Lofts, Director of L&M Home, about which of their beautiful products have been trending of late.

What buying trends are you seeing right now from L&M Home’s customers?

With more of us spending time in our homes, we are looking for products to enhance our everyday experience. Luxury and craft are being redefined – people are interested in the narrative around the maker, how it was made and the provenance of materials.

The pandemic has made us look at ourselves and our behaviour. Buying less and buying better, supporting small business and rebuilding that sense of community. There is a clear trend for gentle minimalism, deliberate rawness, warm surface materials and simplicity.

Are there any pieces from your collections that are proving particularly popular?

With its fluid silhouette and lightly textured finish, our Mona collection (a striking range of planters, pedestals and vases) is a firm favourite. Our Etro velvet cushions are also hugely popular, available in an array of warm, and welcoming hues (Toffee, Tobacco & Eucalypt to name just a few).

Can you tell us more about L&M Home’s wholesale program and how you work with commercial/residential interior designers and decorators?

We have a beautiful showroom in Melbourne as well as agent representatives across Australia, allowing retailers, stylists and interior designers to discover our carefully curated finds. We love seeing our wares styled by some of Australia’s top interiors talent, and regularly feature in photoshoots for both residential and commercial projects.

We’re delighted that L&M Home will be exhibiting at Decor + Design in Melbourne this year! Why is it important for you to return to the live show in 2021? What can trade visitors expect to see from you?

In a digital-centric world, and particularly following lockdown, we really value the importance of reconnecting with our customers face to face.

“The new collection is a sensory experience which has been created slowly and thoughtfully, taking cues from nature and comforting, enriching shades of the earth: ones that are tranquil, enveloping, warming. We can’t wait to share it with visitors at Decor + Design.”

Decor + Design and the Australian International Furniture Fair will take place from 15 – 18 July 2021 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. See the latest collections from hundreds of exhibitors across indoor and outdoor furniture, soft furnishings lighting, textiles and art.
