One of the world’s most elegant women, Coco Chanel, famously advised that ‘before you leave the house, look in the mirror…and take one thing off.’ True sophistication is most often a result of what you choose not to include.

It’s an ethos that Wisteria Design agree deeply with. In a world of fast furniture and disposability, they cater for designers and discerning clients who are searching for simple, sophisticated pieces that will last a lifetime.

To this end, they work with only the very best makers, who place a focus on ethically sourced materials and beautiful, unique pieces.

Decor + Design Exhibitors Return to Melbourne Exhibition Centre This July

We’re delighted that Wisteria Design will be returning in 2021 as an exhibitor at Decor + Design, Australia’s No.1 Interiors Trade Event. After a virtual show in 2020, this year’s trade show will take place 15 – 18 July at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. After a challenging year, it’s going to be a wonderful opportunity for the design trade to gather again.

Chris Sayers from Wisteria Design says that they feel fortunate to have been well-placed to navigate the challenges of Covid-19.

“Luckily, our partner in creative direction, Kerryn Haig, resides in Asia and oversees production and development. With her being on the ground during COVID-19 we were able to stabilise the supply chain and keep stock flowing. We also have a broadly spread factory base to reduce risk and even out flow.”

Natural Timbers, Handmade Rattan & Textiles Set to Shine in 2021

Trade visitors to the 2021 Decor + Design show will be keenly anticipating Wisteria’s latest collections. Sayers says that high-quality timber pieces and handmade rattan items in natural finishes have been proving popular this year, with clients looking for high quality pieces that will last.

As one might expect, there’s also been an increase in sales of home office furniture, with so many more people now working from home

“Consumers tend to ‘cocoon’ during uncertain times and the focus for the coming year will certainly be on the home and making the family safe and comfortable. When the market is confident, we often see a return to contemporary designs in strong colours. However, I feel that this urge to cocoon will keep the trends based in natural timbers, textiles and traditional designs.” – Chris Sayers, Wisteria Design.

Makers have been taught a very tough lesson about supply chains in 2020, bringing a new awareness and preference from high-end consumers regarding manufacturing origin. Sayers says the Wisteria Design team are looking forward to showcasing quality pieces from ethical makers to trade visitors.

“Although the foot traffic has increased greatly through our state showrooms of late, we are really looking forward to reconnecting with our retailers and designers at Decor + Design. Wisteria has evolved greatly over the past two years and we hope to showcase enough of the entire collection to show that evolution. We also have exciting new ranges and a new catalogue to distribute.”
